From Chaos to Clarity: My Summer Recap + Something New Is Blooming…
There comes a time in life when you become wise enough to take your own advice.
Back in May, I hosted a powerful webinar with my dear friend Stephanie Sylvera—a certified parent coach and early childhood educator. Together, we unpacked the emotional rollercoaster of summer: the shift in routines, the nonstop “Mom, Mom, Mommmmy!”, the lack of space from one another (lol), and trying to stay afloat while caring for yourself, too.
That 60-minute session was packed with real tools and encouragement for parents who didn’t want to spend the summer in survival mode. We dove into:
- Why kids eat out of boredom (and how to respond with curiosity instead of control)
- Emotional regulation and screen time struggles
- Simple ways to boost mental well-being—for both you and your kids
- Easy activity ideas: gardening, cooking, chores, painting, and even camping
Truth? It was one of the best webinars we’ve ever done.
But here’s the plot twist: not many showed up.
Now, I see why. That webinar? It was really for ME. June felt like a breeze—but July? I didn’t know what day it was or if the sky was even blue. And still, I used the exact formula I shared in that call:
A flexible rhythm (not a rigid schedule)
Meals with fiber and protein
Daily movement
Time to rest
Space to breathe
Between swim lessons, overlapping camp pickups, hair appointments, client calls, birthday party planning (one down, two to go), cooking 5-star and sometimes 2-star dinners—I stayed grounded by honoring my own needs. And you know what? That’s what kept all of us thriving. Consistency—not perfection—is the real flex. I didn’t overcommit. I left room for beach days, muffin baking, spontaneous pool parties, and unstructured fun. As long as I moved my body, nourished it, connected with my Balcony People, and rested—we were GOOD.
And now? I’m happily counting down to the return of regular programming (Hallelujah for structure!).
